About Environmental Science@VT
Virginia Tech's Environmental Science (EnSc) B.S. Degree Program was initiated in 1992 as a response to society's growing need for technically trained environmental professionals.
Environmental Science is based in the Department of Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences, but it is a strongly interdisciplinary program. Students are advised by faculty from the CSES Department, but degrees will indicate "Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science," and transcripts will further indicate which of the four options is the graduate's emphasis.
Students receive a technical education which draws on many disciplines. EnSc students participate in a rigorous educational experience; become knowledgeable in technical areas; obtain computation, communication, and laboratory skills; and gain awareness of the regulatory context that helps to define environmental employment today.
Goals
Graduating students are knowledgeable in a variety of environmental subjects, including air and water quality, land use, waste management, groundwater remediation, and environmental policy.
